2-1. COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of the Practical Nurse Course is to prepare qualified Army Medical Department enlisted personnel to provide basic practical nursing care in a variety of settings during peacetime and mobilization. Students are expected to achieve entrylevel practical nursing competencies for medical-surgical nursing,

obstetrics, newborn, and pediatric nursing. Students are also introduced to the role and functions of the Department of the Army practical nurse as a soldier and noncommissioned officer.
