LESSON OBJECTIVES After completing this lesson, you should be able to:

1-1. Identify the links in the chain of disease

transmission and select an appropriate means

of breaking each link.

 

1-2. When given examples of common diseases and

the accompanying factors, identify those

elements that illustrate the principles of

"multiple causation" and "iceberg effect."

 

1-3. Select from a list of hypothetical situations

those elements of data that have value from

an epidemiologic viewpoint.

 

1-4. Identify the major uses of the epidemiology in

preventive medicine.
